Pickering Laboratories is a leading provider of artificial sweat, saliva, urine, and other bodily fluid formulations developed for laboratory use in product testing and scientific research.

Key Features

  • Artificial Sweat – Closely mimics human sweat based on published data; ideal for realistic testing conditions.
  • Artificial Saliva – Formulated per ASTM E2720-16 and E2721-16, with mineral composition and pH similar to natural saliva. Contains mucin for enhanced viscosity and lubrication.
  • Artificial Urine – Based on official test methods and research for corrosion, medical, and related applications. Non-sterile, but can be sterilized by filtration.
  • Artificial Cerumen – Mimics natural earwax properties without proteins; includes lanolin, long-chain fatty acids, and paraffin oil.
  • Simulated Lung Fluid – Gamble’s solution, a lung fluid simulation containing surfactants.
  • Simulated Water – Includes ASTM D1141-98 surrogate seawater and a penetration test seawater simulation (08-2-501A).
  • Synthetic Blood – Prepared according to ASTM F1819-07, F1670, F1862, and F2100 standards.
  • Artificial Sweat – Suitable for testing consumer products, medical devices, forensic applications, and as a blank for medical diagnostics.
  • Artificial Saliva – Used in safety and reliability testing for toys, dental devices, and pharmaceutical research.
  • Artificial Urine – Applied in testing metallic biomaterials for urinary implants and catheters.
  • Artificial Cerumen – Designed for evaluating hearing aids, earplugs, and other in-ear electronic devices.
  • Simulated Lung Fluid – Used to study drug dissolution, solubility, and bioavailability of toxic compounds in inhaled particles.
  • Simulated Water – Surrogate seawater used for oil contamination testing, cleaning agent evaluation, corrosion testing, and material penetration tests.
  • Synthetic Blood – Evaluates protective clothing materials and the absorption capacity of materials in prolonged contact with skin.
